Is your back in knots?
Stretching is the deliberate lengthening of muscles in order to increase muscle flexibility and joint range of motion.
Stretching is very important for flexibility, range of motion and injury prevention. Incorporating stretching into your daily workouts is a given but including it in your day routine is just as important to health and body functioning as regular exercise.
The neck is an important structure that supports the head and the cervical spine. The presence of problems on the muscles and bones at the neck causes limitation of motion of the neck joint. Most commonly, people complain of stiff neck or the inability to rotate the neck to one’ side with significant tenderness and pain.
Since the shoulders have such a wide range of movement, it’s important to stretch them regularly to encourage flexibility and reduce any signs of pain or fatigue.
Stretching regularly can help your body and joints move more freely, allowing you to enjoy full functional mobility. Check in with your physical therapist to find out which stretches are best for you to do.
Stretching benefits people of all ages!
